I can work on your bicycle at my workshop or at your home if you live within twenty five miles of Nottingham. If it looks like it may be an involved project it will need to come into the shop.

Want to learn how to make repairs? Adjustments? Change a tire? We can help with that too. I firmly believe that if you ride you should be able to do these things. 

Bicycle sales 

Grumpy k's has scaled back on bicycles sales. With the supply line improving and the box stores along with bike shops increasing their inventory. That has caused the used bicycle sales to slow down  tremendously.

I do keep my eye open for quality used bikes and will post them on grumpy k's facebook page as they come in.

The story of Grumpy K

Grumpy K's Workshop was founded in 2018 as a retirement project and fundraiser for me to raise money to support several different charities that. 

I have lost several family member to cancer a father, brother. A very special aunt and several of my      uncles along with many of my friends over the years. Cancer has hit this family hard. Like it has so many others. I fight back the only way I know. Riding bicycles, raising money and making donations.

I've been doing long distance bike rides for over twenty years. Long distance for me is week long rides of 500 miles or more. My training rides are twenty five to 100 miles. I don't consider myself an athlete, just someone who cares. 

I hate asking people for money and have found that this type of format works well for me. Through my workshop I refurbish used and slightly abused bicycles that people donate to my cause . I then sell them to support the charities of my choice. Charities that I now support are The Prouty, which supports cancer research at the Norris Cotton Cancer Research at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital. Great Cycle Challenge, supporting children's cancer research. And Cystic Fibrosis.raising funds for continuing research on this terrible disease.

Why Grumpy K? It started with the grandchildren, they called me grumpy. Then friends and co-workers got onto the grumpy train. Over the years it has just stuck. And yes I can get a little grumpy on occasion. 

When we have bike donations this is what we do        

The bike comes to my workshop where I check them to determine if they are salvageable.  If they are I go through them front to back, top to bottom bracket (what the pedals connect to). Brakes are checked, serviced, and adjusted. Drive train is checked, chain may need to be replaced, shifter adjusted to assure smooth transition through the gears. Tires and tubes as needed. New shifter and brake cables if needed. Wheel bearings, head bearings, bottom bracket are checked, greased and repacked as needed. In short they get a complete tune up and this can take several hours. If the bike isn't salvageable I scavenge as many parts of them as I can and the left overs are recycled.
